Coleen Rooney shares touching tribute to sister Rosie six years after her death

Coleen Rooney has paid an emotional tribute to her sister Rosie, who passed away six years ago after battling a rare brain condition.

Wayne Rooney's wife posted a photograph on Instagram of her late sister who passed away in January 2013, aged just 14.

Mum-of-four Coleen captioned the picture with, “Forever in our thoughts. Love you Rosie. #6years."

The photograph promoted fans to inundate Coleen with messages of sympathy and support for her loss.

"Thinking of you all @coleen_rooney love and big hugs," one fan wrote, while another commented, "big hug coleen your family gave her so much love & happiness".

Rosie was adopted by Coleen's parents Tony and Colette McLoughlin when she was two years old and was close to her big sister throughout her life, even being appointed as Coleen's chief bridesmaid at her 2008 wedding.

She had suffered from a rare genetic brain disorder called Rett syndrome before she died.

Coleen's husband Wayne has previously shared his heartache at the loss of his wife’s sister too.

While he also shared Coleen's tribute to his own Instagram page, he previously posted a picture of himself with Rosie, writing alongside it, "Miss this face every day. Happy Birthday Rosie."

Coleen and her family were able to spend the last few days with Rosie before her death and released a statement following their loss saying she was "an inspiration".

It said, "Sadly our special angel Rosie, our much-loved daughter and sister went to Heaven at 2.50 this morning at home where she was surrounded by her loving family.

"Rosie was just 14 years old and fought a lifelong battle with Rett syndrome. Throughout her life she brought so much love and happiness to all our family and everyone who knew and met her.

"She was such a strong little girl and an inspiration to us all. We shall cherish for ever the memories we have shared and the love she showed us each and every day of her life.

As a family we are heartbroken but we are blessed to have had her in our lives."

While her parents had four children, Coleen also has a big family with her husband Wayne.
