She may have been pipped to the Queen of the Jungle title, but Coleen Rooney’s journey on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has still proven to be a triumph.
Winning over the public with her sweet personality and maternal, caring nature, Coleen, 38, reached the final on the reality show, where she narrowly lost out on the top spot to McFly’s Danny Jones.
But insiders tell Closer that it’s the WAG who will be the big winner in the long run, as different networks and streaming services are already battling it out to secure her next big TV project.
A source reveals, ‘Coleen is at the centre of a huge bidding war between all the networks and streaming services who are desperate to sign her up. ITV are the frontrunners to get her for Loose Women and she would love to do it, but Netflix are now coming in with some big-money offers – we’re talking offers of well over £1m.
‘Coleen has shown that she’s a very good listener and people open up to her, so they want to capitalise on that.’
Reportedly receiving over £1.5million – a record-breaking sum – to appear on I’m A Celebrity! Coleen took part in the show following her libel lawsuit with fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy, after which the star had begun opening up her life to the public.
Last autumn, Coleen released her Disney+ documentary, The Real Wagatha Story, which focused on her life as wife of football legend Wayne Rooney and a mother-of-four, and her memoir, entitled My Account, followed.
However, for viewers, I’m A Celebrity! showed a different, more vulnerable side of Coleen. Sitting down with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly in the final, Coleen explained that she’d wanted to go on the show so that her sons – Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, six – could feel proud of her.
‘The boys have been proud of their dad for so long,’ she said of her husband of 16 years, ‘So to be proud of their mum… it’s my turn now.’
And sources say it’s Coleen’s ‘chaotic’ home life that TV companies are keen to capture on-screen.
‘The nation is obsessed with hearing about life inside the Rooney mansion and they want to see her in her day-to-day life and find out what really goes on,’ the source continues.
Although Wayne doesn’t enjoy that side of fame, he would be up for it as he’s done it before and, if Coleen agrees, he knows it’s a good idea.’
For former England player-turned-coach Wayne, 39, letting the cameras into his home isn’t a wholly new experience, having put his football career under the spotlight in 2022 in his Prime Video documentary film, Rooney.
But while Disney and Amazon have already produced series on the family, sources say the new show could go to anyone.
The insider adds, ‘Even though she did her documentary with Disney+, Coleen doesn’t have a contract with them, and Netflix and the others would all love to do a reality show with all the family.’
