The squad lost to Italy 2-1 in England’s first match of the 2014 World Cup.

Despite hopes that the team would bounce back after Italy’s second goal, England fans were left disappointed by the team’s opening match.

The morning after the game, Coleen posted a photo of Wayne with their two sons, Klay (5) and Kai (1).

She shared it with the caption: ‘We love our daddy!! Happy Father's day @WayneRooney. We're so proud of you.’

A Twitter troll commented on the photo: ‘@ColeenRoo what for doing nothing in every big game he plays your husbands 1 big extremely ugly joke iv done better looking s****.’

Coleen responded angrily: ‘For being there dad d**head!!(sic).’

Another troll joined in, writing: ‘I could do better than that overpaid w***er,’ with Coleen replying: ‘Phone Roy up then!’

Following the match, Wayne tweeted: ‘Gutted to lose game last night. We move on to Uruguay now. We have to believe snow stay positive (sic).’

When a yet another Twitter troll took a pop at her husband, Coleen sharply replied: ‘You take his place then! Lets see how you get on!!!’
