I had an appointment with Virginia, my midwife, this week and we talked lots about my home birth.
I've decided to bring in a birthing pool and have lots of candles around with some tranquil music to get me into the hypnobirthing mind space.
It's so important to be in a dark, quiet room to set the perfect atmosphere so you can help your body to produce the oxytocin needed to give birth. However, I need to decide which room it's going to be in. All I know is that it will be a talking free zone with no bright lights or examinations to see how I'm proceeding- I'll let nature take it's course with no interruptions.
Ten years ago with Corey, I feared my labour day, but this time with all the information, education and independent support with Virginia and Lottie with the KG hypnobirthing classes, I'm really excited and looking forward to the experience.
We also talked lots about '90 seconds to change the world'. It's really worth a watch on YouTube. It's proven that leaving the umbilical cord attached to the placenta and letting the blood pulsate for up to 90 seconds gives the baby more oxygen, iron and red and white blood cells, which as you can imagine, are very important for the baby and its future.
Towards the end of our appointment, Virginia showed Sam exactly where the baby was lying. Corey had a feel and a little listen too. We got to hear the baby's heart beat which brought a tear to my eye. I can't believe that in 9 weeks he or she could be with us; time has flown by!
Our nursery furniture arrived this week. Again it's all becoming so real and not that long to wait. I absolutely love the furniture. It's the 'Lucas' range from Tutti Bambini - we spotted it at The Baby Show in Birmingham a few months ago and I fell in love with it then. All we have to do now is accessorise it but may wait to see if that's going to be pink or blue!
We are heading back to The Baby Show 25/26th October in Kensington. It's a brilliant event and you get to see the latest products and ranges on display and they are always discounted on the day... Well worth a visit.
Have a great rest of the week and weekend! X
