I think there’s a fine line between balancing really liking someone and being full on.
Are girls put off by your playboy reputation?
That is a problem especially when people might perceive you to be a bit of a lothario, you need to tread quite carefully around it. You need to be sweet, charming, honest and if you can make someone laugh… Noone likes an awkward silence.
You need to establish that you’re confident, not arrogant, and be willing to be shut down or turned down. The worry about being shut down will be obvious.
I’m comfortable with the idea of rejection. I’ve been turned down a million times. I just smile and say ‘okay,’ though it’s not a question of jumping from one to the next.
Sending a drink can be quite good, and giving a little nod from a across the room of you don’t want to be too forward I’ve done that in the past when I’ve sent a glass of champagne across the room.
Do you know you ‘like’ someone as soon as you see them?
I’ve only had four major girlfriends. Three of them I knew I wanted to ‘go out’ with them as soon as I first saw them. You’ve got to gauge the moment.
What do women think of your 'player' repuation?
Some women like it- probably not the sort of women you want to introduce to your mother.
The woman I want to marry I’ll probably have a bit of a hurdle to climb because of this image. They’ll look at me in a darker light. You can’t generalize women as one thing. Certain women almost enjoy being treated a certain way… Or you know like the ‘bad boy.’
Because of the show, you’re not really meeting for the first time. They already have a perception of you.
What can a girl do to turn you off?
I’m not too judgmental, especially not on fashion because I’m not necessarily the most fashion conscious person. Sometimes there’s no reason behind it, you just don’t click with someone. It’s not always to do with looks.
I’m not a big fan of games. If a girl asks me a question on Whatsapp, or whatever, and I reply, then she just goes silent. It’s awkward, it’s just stupid. All it does is annoy the bloke, or the girl.
If they say ‘ I don’t fancy you’ it’s so much easier. I prefer the phone call. If you want to ask a girl on a date, asking by text is a bad idea as they can think about their response and ask their girlfriends, if you call it’s more on-the-spot.
What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done on a date?
The most embarrassing thing I do which happens more than you probably think- and Jamie (Laing) has the same problem- is I’m too full on. It’s why things never took off with Caggie (Dunlop), I say ‘I love you’ too soon.
That’s embarrassing- when you overstep the mark and things aren’t reciprocated.
Do you prefer the way American’s approach dating (Spencer has been filming Made In Chelsea in New York)?
I think they’re more open to seeing different people before something gets serious. Here- heaven forbid- someone should sleep with someone then go for dinner with someone the following day.

Unless you say ‘we are dating, we are together’ then it’s a free-for-all. Not that girls shouldn’t be annoyed by the British system, I’d be a bit peeved if I took a girl out and I really liked her then found out she had slept with someone the following day it would be a bit of a turn-off, I wouldn’t get angry.
Do you get competitive when it comes to dating?
If Jamie and I went out one night and we both fancied the same girl, we’d come to the conclusion of not stepping on each other’s toes. On Made In Chelsea, there’s more competition, no one really like’s choosing a girl over their best mate.
Who is your dream celeb date?
Mila Kunis, though I’d want to date her so I could get to Seth McFarlane.

For a Bromance?
Yeh! (laughs). Though I could fall in love with a shop assistant just as easily as I could an A-lister, it doesn’t matter to me.
When the day comes, how will you propose to your dream girl?
I’ve always had a joke that I would always jump out a plane and locate where she was and just land there next to her in a public place- so she can’t say no- with a ring.
