On Halloween last year, TV presenter Claudia WInkleman’s family life was turned upside down after her daughter suffered horrific burns at a costume party.
Eight-year-old Matilda was standing next to a candle when her costume caught fire, ‘exploding’ in flames.
Her life was saved thanks to some quick thinking on behalf of one of the male party guests.
Now Claudia wants to help encourage more awareness of fire safety and what to do if a similar incident occurs in other households across the UK.
The 43-year-old took three weeks off from her presenting slot on last year’s Strictly Come Dancing to keep a vigil at her daughter’s bedside following the accident.
She wrote on Twitter after the traumatic incident that it would be a ‘long road to recovery’ for Matilda but that ‘she is getting the best possible care’.
Claudia also tweeted: "We are bowled over by their kindness and brilliance.
"Matilda is doing well and although it will be a long road to recovery, she is getting the best possible care."
