“People said some pretty vicious things – that I was disgusting and a disgrace. As she struggled to shed her baby weight, Clare Nasir described unflattering shots of herself working out as “humiliating,” admitting they’d reduced her to tears.
But if these new pics of Clare, 40, being put through her paces in a London park are anything to go by, the former GMTV weathergirl’s hard work has paid off – and she’s looking better than ever.
In July, Clare, who’s mum to one-year-old daughter Sienna, was pictured in unflattering skimpy workout gear, revealing her post-baby bulge. At 5ft6 and a size 16, she tipped the scales at 10st 4lbs, with a BMI of 27.2 – well out of the healthy range of 18.5-25.
She told Closer at the time: “When I saw the pictures I burst into tears – they were so humiliating and undignified.”
Clare, who’s married to BBC music DJ Chris Hawkins, 35, added: “It’s fantastic being a mum, but before I fell pregnant I was a size 12 and around 9st 7lbs. By the time I gave birth I was 12st 7lbs. My body changed so much.”
But three training sessions a week with personal trainers Elia Siaperas and Dee Thresher, combined with a healthy low-fat diet, has helped her shed 2st 4lbs and slim down to 8st and a size 8 in four months, with a healthy BMI of 21.9 – spurred on by unkind jibes posted on the internet.
Clare reveals: “People said some pretty vicious things – that I was disgusting and a disgrace. I even had one comment saying they were sure I was wearing a fat suit.
“It was pretty heart-breaking, but it just made me more determined to sort myself out.”
And Closer can reveal Clare’s now going all out to tone up before the release of her exercise DVD Clare Nasir’s Boot Camp on 27 December, which is based on boxing training.
The star exclusively tells us: “I’ve had so many women coming up to me asking for advice on how to lose weight, that it seemed like a no-brainer to show them exactly how I’ve done it.
“This isn’t going to be a girlie dance around your handbag routine, because I think everyone knows those kind of workouts don’t work – if you want to lose weight, you have to sweat a bit.”
