The 32-year-old received huge backlash after the first round of auditions for The X Factor this year – with many claiming she is a bad role model to young girls.

But Cheryl has hit back. Speaking to the Mirror, she said: "Right now I feel like we are facing a lot of body issues in general – girls expected to have big booties, girls with thin legs – and it's impossible.

"It needs to slow down, or stop. It's highlighting body insecurities and it's not right."

Discussing her own body, Cheryl added: "It's nice that people are concerned, but, honestly there's no cause for concern. You can see I am completely and utterly well and happy."

Former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl is particularly upset by people suggesting she has an eating disorder.

She said: "No, I'm not anorexic. It all started with a girl on Instagram calling us a bag of bones."

Earlier this year Cheryl slammed online critics, after a social media user branded her with the offensive label.

She said: "I would never dream of calling somebody too fat and that maybe they should cut down on their food intake? What is the difference?"
