Has Cheryl dropped Fernandez-Versini? Singer goes by first name only at Brit Awards

It’s been a rocky few months for Cheryl, and she’s managed to keep quiet about the situation, but does this move speak volumes?

Although there’s been no official statement from Cheryl or her people, it’s been widely speculated that her marriage of eighteen months to Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini is on the rocks.

At last nights annual Brit Awards, keen fans noticed that the former Girls Aloud singer had dropped her surname, and was being referred to as just ‘Cheryl’.

The Fight For This Love singer presented the Best British Breakthrough alongside X Factor pal Nick Grimshaw, presenters Ant and Dec welcomed her to the stage by her first name only – something she haven’t done before throughout her career and changing surnames.

When she shot to fame on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, she went by her maiden name, Cheryl Tweedy, but changed her last name to Cole after wedding footballer Ashley Cole in 2006. Despite their divorce in 2010, she kept the name until her marriage to Jena-Bernard in 2014.

A source told the Sun:

"Cheryl has had to reinvent herself several times but her three past names all have very different memories.

"Tweedy is associated with her assault court case, Cole with Ashley's cheating."

In this week’s Closer magazine, sources revealed that Jean-Bernard was in a bid to win Cheryl back, and she felt divided.
