‘They actually split up in June so were going out as friends'

The singer is said to have called time on the relationship back in June after the long distance got the better of them, according to a UK newspaper

Cheryl, 30, is based in the UK while 28-year-old Tre spends most of his time working in New York.

A source told the paper: ‘Cheryl and Tre have tried to make it work but the long-distance relationship and work commitments got the better of them.’

The source added: ‘They actually split up in June so were going out as friends.

'They want to remain good friends’

‘It was a mutual decision so there’s no bad feelings. They want to remain good friends.’

Cheryl met the dancer when she performed her single Promise This on 2010’s X Factor live finals and the pair went public with their relationship in around June of 2012.

In November of that year Cheryl said: 'There is a stronger connection and a chemistry you wouldn't have with any other dancer.

'To have that relationship is rare, to be able to have it with you and share those moments is pretty special actually.'

Cheryl was 'having a moment' on Twitter at the weekend

The reports come after Cheryl posted an emotional message on social media at the weekend, writing: ‘Having good people/friends/family etc in your life is priceless. I am extremely grateful! And to be able to share parts of it with you all is the best #havingamoment’

Cheryl was previously married to Ashley Cole from 2006 - 2010, but filed for divorce following numerous cheating allegations.
