They’re known for their fiery relationship, but last week Simon Cowell delivered a low blow claiming Cheryl Fernandez-Versini had “put on a bit of weight” ahead of her sacking from the US X Factor in 2011.

Quick to respond to the claims at the X Factor press conference last week, Cheryl hit back: "'I heard this rumour and I think a gentleman should never speak about a woman's age or weight but that's only if you're educated on how to treat a woman."

"So, unlucky for him. And who listens to Simon Cowell these days anyway. Does anybody? I don't listen to him anymore."

A source says: “Cheryl is furious, she thinks Simon’s comments were hurtful, irresponsible and also hypocritical giving his own waistline. She's asked him to stop talking about the US X Factor, because she feels he’s rubbing salt into the wounds. It reminds her of when she was at her lowest, and she thinks it's time to move on.”
