Cheryl Baker, born as Rita Maria Crudgington, is an English singer and television presenter.

Cheryl is best known for being a Bucks Fizz band member - a pop group who achieved huge success in the 1980's.

How old is she?

Cheryl is 62-years-old and was born on 8 March 1954 in Bethnal Green, London.

Anyway, for those who don't know, Bucks Fizz are a British group made up of Cheryl and 3 other members. The group famously won the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest and went on to have a successful career, especially in the UK, becoming one of the 1980's top-selling groups.

Baker left the group in 1993 to concentrate on her family, but Bucks Fizz have since reformed in 2004 under the name 'The Fizz' and continued to make music and tour in the UK.

Why did Cheryl set up her own charity?

In 1984, Bucks Fizz were involved in a serious car accident when their tour bus collided with a lorry.

Thankfully, no one involved was killed, although people were left severely injured. Cheryl broke three vertebrae in her spine, while bandmate Mike Nolan was placed on a life support machine after falling into a coma due to severe head injuries and internal bleeding.

Cheryl then set up her own charity 'HeadFirst' in aid of car crash victims who suffer with head injuries. She has continued to raise money for the charity, and even ran the London Marathon to raise money for 'HeadFirst'.
