Fans were shocked when Charlotte Dawson revealed she’d caught fiancé Matthew Sarsfield sexting another woman – but the heartbroken star is apparently giving him a second chance.
Charlotte, 31, seemed in high spirits last week as she stepped out with her engagement ring firmly on her finger, after it was revealed Matt, 32, had sent intimate messages to another woman.
On her My Naughty Corner podcast last week, Charlotte – who shares sons Noah, three, and Jude, one, with the rugby star – detailed the drama, saying, "I’ve seen the messages, they’re not nice. It really hurt."
She added, "My whole world came crashing down, I was so shocked. I felt really shocked, hurt and disappointed. His family were really shocked with him."
Admitting things had been strained for a while, she added, "We haven't had a good relationship this past two years, but it's no excuse. Children come in the middle of the relationship. It hasn't been good for a while. It's hard to get that intimate time, that's been a massive thing."
Now a source says, "She was always going to go back to him, but her family and close friends are very concerned.
"Some of her pals are frankly livid – they consoled Charlotte, dried her tears, and have been a shoulder to lean on. Their big fear is that he’s never going to change, and they’ve told her that she could be in the exact same place in a year’s time – crying her eyes out and saying it’s over, then taking him back. It’s very toxic."
With the couple – who first met in 2016 and got engaged in 2022 – giving their romance another go, the source adds, “It’s difficult for her loved ones to watch, but Charlotte’s a gorgeous soul who leads with her heart. She’ll always take him back."
