She’s been proudly showcasing the results of her body transformation with her 1.3 million followers on social media after losing over a stone in seven weeks, and Charlotte Dawson says she’s feeling “energised and healthier” after dropping two dress sizes.
The star, who is mum to sons Noah, three, and seven-month-old Jude, with fiancé Matt Sarsfield, tells Closer, “I’m absolutely loving life, I’m feeling great, looking good, and getting into my old clobber which is an amazing feeling.
“I’ve lost a stone and 8lbs, and I’m doing it nice and steady and not pressuring myself. I wanted to get back into my old clothes after having Jude, because you reach a point where you just start feeling like cr*p when you can’t fit into anything. I’ve got my hands full with my two boys and I don’t want to feel sluggish. I’m starting to feel back to myself in that sense and that’s a great place to be.”
Charlotte, who’s renowned for her love of “chips and gravy”, has opted for healthier meals such as chicken Caesar salad and king prawn risotto, from her Chazza’s Belleh Blaster plan, which she famously lost three and a half stone with in 2022 after having Noah. She’s also been working out with fun dance videos for 15-20 minutes a day and has dropped from a size 16 to a size 12.
“I can’t stand being on diets, I don’t do shakes or meal replacements, I’d miss all my nice food like chips and pizza, I’m a carbie,” she laughs. “It’s just about having everything you like but just in moderation, which obviously I never used to do before because I would be full barrel down the chippy! I can still eat snacks but I’ll go for low-calorie crisps and yoghurts.”
She adds, “My belly is the hardest place to lose weight from, but I’m not too bothered because I like my little pouch, my stretch marks and tiger stripes. It made Noah and Jude so I’m very proud of it, but on the whole I’m noticing I’m losing weight all over.”
But despite feeling more confident, Charlotte, who has never been one to take herself seriously and often entertains her followers by “shaking her belleh”, adds, “I’ve always had skinny legs like a sparrow and nothing’s changed. I’ve still got my bunions, Barry and Bill, they’re not bloody going anywhere, and I’ve still got Bob and Belinder, my double chins – I’ve got to name them to make me feel good, it gives me a thicker skin!”
The star is also promoting Butlin’s Big Weekenders, a campaign which has seen her get dressed up in fancy dress outfits, and admits she’s forever determined to look on the bright side of life. “Life is very doom and gloom at the moment, and if you don’t laugh, what have you got? If there’s only thing I love, it’s letting my hair down, dressing up, being silly and not taking myself seriously, and Butlin’s Big Weekend is all about that. Being a mum is stressful so if there’s any opportunity to have fun, I’ll take it!”
Meanwhile, Charlotte, who’s been engaged to former rugby player Matt since September 2020 and is hoping for a “five-day wedding with three outfits changes”, reveals her weight loss has given the pair a new lease of life in the bedroom. “I think Matt’s a bit jealous because I’m catching him up, he’s thinking, ‘Bloody hell, you’re going to look better than me on the beach’,” she laughs. “He’s feeling proud of me and the progress I’ve made, I think he fancies me a little bit more. I mean, you never know – there might be another baby on the way very soon! I definitely think it’s spiced things up a little bit between us. But that said, it’s just as equally about how you feel, and how that goes on to make you feel more confident about yourself.”
And she hopes their bond will be further reignited when Noah moves into his own bedroom next month. The star has been proudly co-sleeping with her three-year old, while Matt sleeps in a separate room. While the set-up might seem unconventional, Charlotte has no regrets. “I’ve loved having Noah next to me, his little body all wrapped up beside me, he’s my best friend and I loved co-sleeping with him and I don’t regret it. But it is a massive thing, me and Matthew do miss each other. We said we really need to get Noah in his own room now just for us to have our own time. Jude is sleeping through for 12 hours in his cot, and I think Noah seeing Jude in his own room has got him excited to have his own little space, too.”
And as she looks to the future, Charlotte, whose father who was the late comedian Les Dawson, admits she’s hoping to follow in her dad’s comedic footsteps soon. She adds, “I think this year is all about my career, I’ve got my two beautiful boys and I feel blessed, but I want to focus on getting back on TV. I loved doing panto at Christmas, and now I’d absolutely love to get into stand-up comedy. I’m actually writing a script at the moment and I can’t say too much. Watch this space!”
