Last night the 24-year-old took to Twitter to seemingly announce their happy news.

Geordie Shore star Charlotte simply wrote: "OMG I SAID YES"

Mitch also tweeted, adding: "Only gone and got me self a ball and chain [sic]."

But it appears the whole thing was a joke. This morning Charlotte wrote: “Soooooooooooo don’t ever let your boyfriend get your phone when your drunk. I’m not engaged. And believe me he will be punished today [sic].”

Charlotte and Mitch were together for 18 months before splitting last September.

At the time she told the Mirror: "I want to test him. I said, 'I think we need to talk, I'm not very happy at the minute.'"

However since getting back together at the end of last year, the couple have been inseparable.

Meanwhile Charlotte has announced she'll soon be releasing her first autobiography.

Uploaded the cover of the book, titled Me Me Me, to Instagram, Charlotte wrote: "It's been LONG AWAITED... My very first book ME ME ME which is coming in July is now available for preorder.

"It's [going to] be KNICKER WETTINGLY FUNNY and as OUTRAGEOUS as [everything]. Anything goes in these pages #BiggerAndBetterThanTheBIBLE [sic]."
