When it was revealed that Busted were reforming for a new album and a 2016 tour many fans were pretty shocked.

Back in 2006, band member Charlie Simpson had described being in the band as ‘torture’ causing fans to believe that their 2005 split was for good.

As news of the band’s reunion took over Twitter there was fast speculation that money was Charlie’s main incentive.

Speaking to The Sun he has now denied this to be the case.

Charlie said: “I’m sure cynics will say I’ve done this for the money – but I haven’t.

“For a start I could have returned for McBusted and made money on that, but I didn’t.

“Of course, I hope it’s a success, it would be weird if I didn’t. But things needed to be right between us for this too work.”

After quitting the band Charlie went on to release music with rock group Fighstar before releasing two solo albums.

He added that the new Busted sound is slightly different to what fans might be familiar with.

The singer said: “It’s a progression. People might think it will sounds heavy, like Fightstar, but it won’t, they’re just awesome songs.”

The band are set to tour the UK next year.
