Celebrity Big Brother viewers have hit out at John Partridge for nominating Darren Day to face eviction – and calling him out for his addiction issues.

The housemates were asked to nominate face-to-face and, despite claiming the 47-year-old is his best friend in the house, EastEnders actor John, 44, decided to reference Darren’s past substance abuse.

John said: “This is a difficult one. Over the course of this week, I’ve seen Darren go from a happy-go-lucky guy into somebody that has withdrawn.

“I’ve seen him pick-up habits that he had discarded before he came into this house and he’s using them as a coping mechanism.”

Unsurprisingly Darren didn’t take to well to John’s public lecture and nomination, and stressed that he’s not had a drink in the house.

Despite Darren’s insistence, John still nominated his friend who later raged to their other housemates.

Unable to keep quiet, Darren then confronted John and said that he should have taken him aside if he was concerned, instead of making him face potential eviction from the house.

Viewers took to Twitter to vent their anger over John’s nomination, branding him a snake for betraying Darren.

Meanwhile it’s been reported broadcasting regulator OFCOM is investigating Channel 5 over a remark John made about Tiffany Pollard, which some viewers believed to be a racial stereotype.

Following 34-year-old Tiffany’s meltdown, sparked because she believed David Gest had died in the house, she apologised to Angie Bowie, when the news about David Bowie was confirmed.

But John later told the other housemates: “She only wants to come to talk to us now because she’s hungry and wants some chicken.”

One Twitter user fumed: “#CBB painting Tiffany as the angry black woman, John’s racist remark, and everyone else’s racist behaviour by trying to oust her is gross [sic].”
