Gail, 44, was opening up about her struggle with confidence after she lost her hair ten years ago to alopecia.
She explained to housemates Austin, Natasha Hamilton, James Hill and Sherrie Hewson that she had been left feeling ‘ugly’ after losing her long blonde hair, eyelashes and eyebrows to the condition.
The mum-of-one said: “I feel extremely ugly. I’ve dealt with no hair for a long time. Sometimes I don’t feel so pretty.”
In a touching gesture, model Austin told Gail that he was going to shave his head in an effort to show what an ‘amazing’ person she was with or without hair.
He explained: “Gail, I would be honoured for you to shave my head. You are the most amazing person with or without hair.
“I don’t give a st what people think. You are the most awesome human being. This is how important hair is Gail…This is something that’s not important. I don’t give a st because you’re the same person you are without hair. I’m the same person I was when I had hair.”
Gail was moved to tears by Austin’s decision, and housemate James later told Big Brother in the diary room: “Never ever judge a book by its cover. Austin is ten times the man I’ll ever be. He’s just shaved his hair off to show his respect to Gail. To prove it doesn’t mean anything. That’s amazing. Just to see him do that - he’s some man.”
