Caroline Flack's latest hosting role for the upcoming Channel 4 programme The Surjury may no longer happen.

She was set to host the show sometime next year. However, an official confirmation date has never been announced.

It comes after she stepped down from hosting Love Island and ITV confirmed Laura Whitmore would instead take her place, after she was arrested on December 12 for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton.

The Sujury's premise was surrounded by controversy when it was fist confirmed it had been commissioned. It revolves around members of the public pleading with a panel on why they should get cosmetic procedures - but for free.

A source told The Sun, “Caroline’s looming court case and the bad publicity surrounding her has left a dark cloud over the show and Channel 4 do not want to associate themselves with Caroline at this time.

“It’s a devastating blow for her as it was a huge break into the mainstream."

Caroline pleaded not guilty to assault by beating at her court hearing on Monday 23rd December.

It was reported that the TV presenter broke down in tears in the dock as prosecutor Katie Weiss spoke of a “significant injury” to boyfriend Lewis’ head after he “had been hit over the head by Caroline with a lamp.”

Defending Caroline, her lawyer Paul Morris told the court she was still in a relationship with Lewis and that he considered himself to be a witness not a victim.
