Carol wants to feature a male celebrity on the panel every Friday in a bid to mix things up on the popular daytime chat show.

Speaking to The Mirror, the TV presenter said: ‘I think it would be good, we could have a guy on every Friday.’

She thinks that adding a man to the all-female panel might attract more viewers.

‘It would work because occasionally we’ve had people like Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr who have stayed for the whole show and it has really worked well.’

‘I think now with the new boss Martin and the team they’re open to new ideas,’ she added.

The hit talk show use to have over 2 million viewers tuning in but now only attracts around 700,000 viewers.

The drop in viewers follows the departure of popular panel members Lisa Maxwell, Carol McGiffin and Denise Welch.

Producers have been attempting to attract a higher viewership by adding new names to the panel such as Kimberly Walsh, pop star Jamelia, Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington and former Steps singer Claire Richards.
