Carol Vorderman has been spotted in public for the first time since announcing her mother's devastating terminal cancer on Mother's Day
Carol Vorderman has been seen out in public for the first time since announcing her mother's terminal cancer diagnosis on Mother's Day last month.
The I'm A Celeb runner-up was seen at Langan's Brasserie's 40th anniversary party on Mayfair in London earlier this week.
Thankfully, the 56-year-old was looking surprisingly upbeat, even joking around and laughing with former Page 3 girl Jilly Johnson.
She also uploaded a super cute photo of herself with mum Jean on Twitter yesterday, saying that she was having breakfast with her mum and that she was saying: "Hello to the world!"
Cute!
Despite beating the disease three times, the Countdown star's mum Jean has been diagnosed with terminal cancer at 88 years old.
Carol announced the devastating news with a heartbreaking tweet on Mother's Day, that read, "A precious Mother's Day x This wk Mum & I found out she has terminal cancer. She's 88,beautiful inside and out & I love her beyond measure x.”
She has previously talked about Jean's difficult battle with the illness, when she was admitted for her third operation last year.
She tweeted, “Mum is having her 3rd cancer op today but this op is minor compared to the previous ones thankfully.
“Mum has had a 3lb ovarian tumour removed (miraculously it hadn't spread) then she had kidney cancer so half of her right kidney was removed, this time it's a pretty big malignant melonoma, but Mum says 'goodness me, this is nothing. I'll be in and out in no time.'
"Scans have shown this skin cancer hasn't spread either so we consider ourselves lucky children today."
The TV star is no doubt being comforted by her own children with ex-husband Patrick King, Kate, 24, and 20-year-old Cameron this Mother's Day.
The former I'm A Celeb contestant previously spoke about what a great help Jean had been in bringing up her children six years ago, saying, "I don’t think I would have been able to leave Katie if Mum hadn’t been at home to look after her.
"My mum and I have always lived together, and that’s the way we like it. Now 82, she is still by my side. She has been there through it all, no matter what."
Our hearts go out to Carol's family today.
