A cancer diagnosis can cause issues in even the most stable and loving of relationships.

TV presenter Carol McGiffin, 55, has now admitted in a recent interview that her recent breast cancer diagnosis ‘tested’ her relationship with fiancé Mark Cassidy, 33.

She explained to Bella magazine: “[We've never had any rocky spells]. But the most stressful thing was the breast cancer. I never thought, "This is going to be testing for both of us.

“It was testing, but it was just something we got through and it was fine.”

Following chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Carol is now thankfully in remission.

She was sure to try and return to her jet setting lifestyle as soon as she could.

Carol explained: “Even though I still wasn't feeling 100 per cent, I was determined to go on holiday, to get out and see friends. We hadn't done that in for a year.

“When we got the diagnosis it was like: "Oh God." I know I was ill, but it did p*** me off that we couldn't go on holiday.”

The TV presenter added: “It kind of made me appreciate the holiday we did get to go on after it was all over.”
