Closer’s News Editor Katie Banks talks to the unstoppable Caitlyn Jenner at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing party
She’s become one of the most talked about women on the planet, and when Closer caught up with Caitlyn Jenner at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing party she couldn’t wait to gush about her new life.
Caitlyn, 66, who came out as a woman last year after finding global fame as Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner in the 80s, said: “I am so happy now. I’m just about to launch my second season of I Am Cait and I’m really enjoying myself.
“Family means everything to me. I feel so blessed to have a great family who supports me. I can’t wait to show people the next stage in my journey.”
And Caitlyn, who was treated to a lavish 5-course meal alongside A-List guests including Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, Heidi Klum and Charlie Sheen, admitted she loves glomming up for celeb parties.
She laughed: “I love looking glamorous and I loved getting dressed up for nights out. I love MAC makeup - it's fantastic and makes me feel so confident.”
And Caitlyn, who admitted she would like to date men in the future, says she can’t wait to explore more issues in her next series.
She says: “My next series explore more trans issues and obviously that's something that's so close to my heart. I go on the road and you get to see the real me. It's been a real journey and it's all been worth it.”
Following the dinner the celeb guests were treated to a lively auction, which included a BVLGARI Serpenti 18 carat white gold full pavé diamond necklace and a five-day vacation at Steven Tyler’s Hawaiian retreat.
Sitting at one of the luxurious tables, Boy George indulged in a few selfies and told me that he loves his new role as a judge on The Voice.
He said: “I love The Voice because it’s a show where all the judges don’t have to be bitches to get attention. Far from it, I’m on the phone to Paloma (Faith) all the time. It’s important to be competitive without bitching.”
The 24th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing party raised an amazing $6.2 million to help end HIV/AIDS. For more info, please see: www.ejaf.org
A big thanks to Pistol and Stamen for my Aidan by Aidan Mattox gown, and Lauren Clark Andrew Jose, Katrina Brown for getting me red carpet ready!
And Three, as I was able to use my phone abroad at no extra cost as it’s the only network that doesn’t charge roaming fees in the USA. So I was able to use my maps to get around and my data to instantly upload pics and videos without worrying about facing a hefty phone bill on my return. Check out: www.three.co.uk/feelathome
