Bruce Jenner, 65, was involved in a fatal Malibu car crash over the weekend, which caused the death of 69-year-old Kim Howe.

Despite rumours that he was texting at the time of the accident, which some have suggested led to the four car pileup, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has now spoken out via his publicist.

"I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time"

His statement read: "My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident.

"It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time.

"I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."

His publicist also denied that Jenner was texting behind the wheel at the moment his Cadillac Escalade ploughed into a white Lexus.

The driver of the Lexus was killed; five children and two adults were also injured in the accident, from which Bruce walked away unscathed.

The reality star has claimed that he was being followed by paparazzi at the time of the accident but, so far, there is no evidence to support this claim.

"That is a very regular occurrence, and (there is) no indication at this time it was a contributing factor of the crash," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. John Lecrivain said.
