Brittany Murphy, who starred in Clueless, 8 Mile and Girl Interrupted, died on 20th December 2009 at the age of 32 after suffering a reported cardiac arrest. However, a new toxicology report suggests that her death could have been caused by poison.
At the time of her death, the Los Angeles coroner said he believed the cause of death "appears to be natural", later stating that it was an accident spurred by medications she was taking to combat pneumonia and an iron deficiency.
Her husband, Simon Monjack, died five months later, in similar circumstances to Brittany.
"They were, in fact, under surveillance, including helicopters. Their telephones were wiretapped"
However the late actress' father Angelo Betolotti sued authorities at the coroner’s office and the Los Angeles Police Department in order to obtain hair, blood and tissue samples for testing.
According to reports, the subsequent independent test has revealed the presence of ten separate heavy metals in Brittany's system — substances which are, according to The Examiner, commonly associated with rat poison.
The new lab report states: “If we were to eliminate the possibility of a simultaneous accidental heavy metals exposure to the sample donor then the only logical explanation would be an exposure to these metals (toxins) administered by a third party perpetrator with likely criminal intent.”
At the time of her death, Brittany reportedly displayed all the symptoms of heavy metal poisoning, including headaches, dizziness, abdominal cramps, coughing, sweating, disorientation, wheezing, congestion and pneumonia.
Her husband also experienced similar symptoms, although he was in ill health after delaying a triple bypass surgery following the death of his wife.
Who would have cause to murder Brittany Murphy?
In a recent interview with Fleur De Lis Film Studios, Brittany's father claimed that his daughter was under surveillance after speaking out in support of Julia Davis, a government whistleblower:
"They were, in fact, under surveillance, including helicopters. Their telephones were wiretapped.
"Brittany was afraid to go home, because of the sneak-and-peek incursions into their residence and other terror tactics she suffered after speaking out in support of Julia Davis and being named as a witness in her lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security."
Who was Julia Davis? And what does she have to do with Brittany?
Julia Davis was branded a "domestic terrorist" after exposing security flaws that were allowing terrorists to sneak into the USA while she was working as a border security guard in California.
Apparently the Department of Homeland Security, while investigating Julia Davis, attempted to defame her character by suggesting she was "co-starring in a film directed by her husband, BJ Davis, alongside Burt Reynolds".
To support this claim, the agency apparently questioned former Arizona Councilman Tom Simplot and Brittany Murphy.
According to Fleur De Lis Film Studios, "Simplot was initially pressured by the DHS under the guise of importance of this matter to national security to issue a statement wherein he incorrectly claimed to have interviewed Julia Davis, stating that she was co-starring with Burt Reynolds in a BJ Davis’ film. He later recanted, admitting that he’s never even met Julia Davis."
However Brittany Murphy "bravely stood up to refute the agency’s misrepresentations and issued a formal statement through her attorney."
She was then listed as a witness in a lawsuit filed by the Davises against the Department Of Homeland Security.
Juia Davis has since claimed, via the National Whistleblower Centre website, that those who openly supported her were subjected to extreme surveillance:
"This included warrantless aerial surveillance with fixed-wing airplanes and Blackhawk helicopters, vehicular surveillance, OnStar tracking, Internet monitoring, wiretaps, warrantless searches and seizures and series of other outrageous, unwarranted retaliatory measures."
What does Angelo Bertolotti say?
“Vicious rumors, spread by tabloids, unfairly smeared Brittany’s reputation. My daughter was neither anorexic nor a drug junkie, as they repeatedly implied.
"Brittany and Simon were ridiculed […] when they complained of being under surveillance and in fear for their lives. I will not rest until the truth about these tragic events is told. There will be justice for Brittany.”
What do officials say?
Officials insist there is no evidence to support a more sinister motive behind 32-year-old Brittany’s sudden death in the bathroom of her Los Angeles home on December 20, 2009.
However, while there are no suspects or criminal investigations at this time, the possibility that Murphy’s death — and possibly Monjack’s - may have been murder has now been raised.
What do you think?
Could Brittany Murphy have been murdered? Do you think there is more to her death than meets the eye? Or is this simply a case of a grieiving father desperately searching for answers?
