Britney Spears speaks about her niece Maddie’s ‘extremely serious’ accident

Britney Spears’ niece has reportedly been seriously injured in an accident that happened on Sunday.

Maddie, 8, the daughter of Britney’s little sister, Jamie Lynn, is said to have had a terrible ATV accident on Sunday and according to TMZ is in an “extremely serious” condition.

An ATV – or all-terrain vehicle – is more commonly known in the UK as a quad bike.

According to reports, Maddie was driving around on the vehicle when it suddenly flipped over.

TMZ says she was underwater for “several minutes and unconscious” before she was brought to a nearby hospital by airlift.

Sources told the website that Maddie was on a hunting expedition when the accident happened, and her mum Jamie Lynn wasn’t present.

However, Britney’s rep has come forward to address a few of the details surrounding the incident involving her young niece.

In a statement issued to Entertainment Tonight, the Baby One More Time singer’s spokesperson said: “The details the media are reporting surround the incident regarding Jamie Lynn’s daughter Maddie are incorrect.

“Right now the Spears family asks that everyone respect their privacy during this time and appreciates all the prayers and support for their family.”

Britney and Jamie Lynn's father has has also commented, saying only: “All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie.”

We’re thinking of the family during this difficult time and we really hope that Maddie is okay.
