Ever since Britney won her appeal to have her dad removed from her conservatorship after 13 long years, she’s been living her absolute best life on Instagram.
Anyone following the case will know that Britney’s freedoms were restrictedto the point where she was allegedly limited in who she could see, how she could spend her money, right down to how and when she could use social media.
Britney’s Instagram has long been a place of unfiltered expression. Compare her feed to the polished, painstakingly curated grids of the likes of Beyoncé, JLo, or even UK reality stars like Chloe Ferry or the Love Islanders, and it’s clear that she’s far less concerned with looking ‘perfect’ than she is with connecting with her fans in an authentic way through one of the few mediums available to her.
Currently on an idyllic holiday to celebrate the end of her former set up, Britney took to the platform to pose a series of nude photos, with strategically placed flower emojis to hide her modesty.

And despite the few smart-asses in the comments pointing out the “blatant photoshop”, the joke’s on them because Britney herself addressed the editing, taking ownership of her, erm, amateur photoshopping in the caption.
“Playing in the Pacific never hurt anybody 😉💋🙊 !!!! Pssss no photo edits… the tub curves 😂😂😬😬 !!!” she wrote, in her characteristically emoji-and-exclamation-mark laden language.
And fans, far from zooming in on the image as they might have done for another star who vehemently denies any editing, simply didn’t mention it. Instead, they celebrated right alongside Britney, applauding her bravery.
“Love seeing you so happy and free! 🥰🔥 You deserve it! 💯 Love you B😍,” said Britney’s pal Paris Hilton.

“Britney used her first day of non-Jamie conservatorship to post nudes and I’m inspired,” wrote a fan, while another said, “Now this is a FREE Britney!”
Perhaps after so long spent denied her independence and sense of self, Britney’s desire to express the reality of herself – and not the shiny, pore-less, filtered version – comes from a place of wanting to prove there’s a whole person behind the headlines, behind the sexualised schoolgirl of 1997, behind the 13 year conservatorship. And while she might have tried her hand at a spot of photoshopping on this occasion to give her boobs and her confidence a boost, no one can accused Britney of not being 100% herself on social media.
