Britney Spears is gearing up for a stint on stage in Las Vegas, but, despite the songstress dubbing this as "one of the best times in my life", she doesn't seem to be very happy.
"In this business, you make a deal with the devil"
In fact, she recently confessed to In Style that she's desperate for a baby girl, as she has a feeling that a little "mini-me" would cure her loneliness:
"I would really like to have another baby, a girl. I think she would be like a mini-me.
"I think it’s going to be crazy. I’m not going to feel as alone in the world anymore. I’m going to feel like I have a second person, like, that’s me."
So why does Britney feel so alone?
Well, it might have something to do with the enormous pressures put upon her by the music industry to stay looking a certain way. Speaking candidly about the enormous expectations she faces, Britney confessed: "In this business, you make a deal with the devil."
"What I do calls for me to look good. People expect that. I kind of take it as my job.
“A doctor I see, Dr. Kanodia, does fun stuff to me sometimes — I’ve had lip injections before"
The pop star also admitted that she’s had some assistance from renowned Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Raj Kanodia, dismissing his procedures as "fun stuff".
“A doctor I see, Dr. Kanodia, does fun stuff to me sometimes — I’ve had lip injections before.
"He has this peptide-based face-care product; it’s green and slimy, and you mix it together and put it on your face. It does wonders. You leave it on overnight.”
That said, Britney thinks “it’s cruel how the world puts so much emphasis on our looks”, citing Kim Kardashian as a prime example of a woman harangued by the press:
“I see Kim and what she went through when she was pregnant — the tabloids were so mean to her because she was big.
"At one point in the show she was upset and said something like, ‘I would be lying if I said that the criticism from the paparazzi while I’ve been pregnant hasn’t taken a toll on me.’”
Meanwhile, during a sit-down interview on ITV's Lorraine, Britney said that working hard for her show has helped her get her body back into shape: “Seven hour days working, it’s pretty gruesome.”
And she won't be pigging out this Christmas, sticking to vegetables and turning down the sausages, figgy pudding and mince pies: “It’s really hard because I love food!”
We think Britney looks drop-dead gorgeous all the time - anyone else reckon she should treat herself over the festive period?
