Britney proved that she's still got it with a stunning comeback performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The Slave 4 U singer has had a pretty up and down relationship with the VMA's, having been accused of dodgy lip synching, dancing with snakes and snogging Madonna.

Britney took to the stage in a fabulous sparkly gold outfit that left little to the imagination and backing dancers who were wearing psychedelic black and white suits.

The performance was entertaining, as Britney danced alongside G-Easy and, no stranger to scandal and controversy, grabbed his crotch as part of a dance routine.

The singer has had her fair share criticism, however, for her poor lip synching as fans got critical on Twitter.

"This is painful to watch...like a movie with voiceovers in the wrong language. #VMAs #BritneySpears" one fan said.

"#BritneySpears is lip synching for dear life #VMAs" said another.

Despite the lip synching, Britney looked, and danced, like the absolute queen she is. Her long blonde waves and natural look made her look truly radiant and after her 2007 breakdown we couldn't be more pleased that she looks happy.

“I think there’s something in the air at the VMAs,” she said during an interview. “It’s like electric. I can’t really explain it.”

On Twitter to Kim Kardashian West Britney said: “Can’t wait to see how hot you’re gonna look tonight! See you 10 seconds after.” In interview with People magazine she said she, “wanted to do something different, something I’ve never done before, so that was probably the coolest thing we could come up with.”
