The Westlife singer, who has two daughters Molly, 14 and Lily-Sue, 13 with ex-wife Kerry Katona, joined the Loose Women panel today to discuss the matter of priviledged parents who spoil their children.

The panel spoke about celebrity children like Brooklyn Beckham, who was gifted a £30,000 Mercedes after passing his driving test – presumably paid for by his parents Victoria and David Beckham.

Brian, who moved to Austraila after he spilt with Kerry, revealed that he used to feel guilty about not seeing them and often tried to make up for it by buying them whatever they wanted.

"The children went to live with [Kerry]. And when you spend that much time away from the kids you do get that guilt.

"When you do see them after a long time you do spoil them even more, it's almost like you are trying to buy their affection."

However, Brian then admitted that it all changed when he moved back to the UK: "For me I started to notice the girls would start to regularly text me. They were looking for something.

"So for me how I'm changing it now if they want something substantial for their birthday or for Christmas, I make them earn half the money themselves and I will pay the other half."

Seems like a fair suggestion, right? Janet-Street Porter even voiced her support for the technique of trying to get his children to understand the value of money and how it doesn’t just magically appear.

Nadia Swalha wasn't so sure, stating that using this techinique on birthday presents was a little harsh.
