Midge Ure, who knew Peaches from when she was a baby, said he sat down to write his friend a letter when he heard the tragic news that the 25-year-old had passed away.

'Bob seems to have been dealt this ridiculously unfair hand,' he said.

'It's just too hideous to contemplate, but Bob's an incredibly strong character. I'm sure he'll see this through. He has a fairly large family to try to guide through this.'

Midge added that the real worry is for Tiger Lily, who lost both her parents - Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence - to a drug overdose, and has now lost her sister in tragic circumstances.

The musician pal of Bob also made reference to the danger of drink and drugs surrounding famous young people, saying: 'Some of these kids have too much money. Their backgrounds have been too easy.'
