As the inquest opens today into the death of Peaches Geldof at the age of 25, her devastated father, Bob, has reportedly given his family some inspiring news.

"After all the sadness, we need something to focus on which will bring joy and light"

According to Jerry Hall, a close friend of Jeanne, the Live Aid founder has proposed to his girlfriend of 18 years, French actress Jeanne Marine.

She said to the Mail Online: "Bob has proposed. She is over the moon.

"Jeanne Marine has been a rock and a tower of strength over this. I’m so excited for her I am bursting to tell someone.

They added: "Bob and Jeanne have been through hell, but they are determined something positive will come out of it.

"After all the sadness, we need something to focus on which will bring joy and light."

Speaking at the Wellcome Book Prize ceremony in London, Jerry Hall added: "I’ve just got back from Texas and accompanied Jeanne to the funeral. It was, of course, terribly sad, but she told me that Bob had asked her to marry him out of the blue.

"I’m so happy for her. It makes you realise we all have to value what we have."

Peaches Geldof's toxicology results are due to be released today when the coroner opens an inquest into her death.

The hearing is only expected to last around 10 minutes.

A spokesman for Mr Hatch said a statement from a senior police officer will be heard and the coroner will release the cause of death.

A date for a full inquest into the model and TV presenter's death is due to be set some time in late July, the spokesman added.
