John Noakes, who starred in Blue Peter for 12 years throughout the 60s and 70s, was last seen leaving his home in Majorca this morning.
The 81-year-old’s wife Vicky sounded the alarm and local police are now currently taking part in a search to bring him home safely.
A local police officer told The Mirror: “He’s not been formally reported missing but we are searching for him along with Civil Guard officers.
“We’ve been told he’s suffering Alzheimer’s and disappeared from his home about a mile from Andratx around 8.30am this morning.
“He apparently does occasionally go walking down to Andratx so we’re looking along the route he’d normally take.
“The worrying thing obviously is his state of health and the fact he left home with nothing but the clothes he was wearing and temperatures at the moment are around 95 degrees.
“If he’s still missing around 2pm local time, then the search area will be widened and a bigger team brought in to look for him.”
His wife added: "I'm sure he'll turn up.
"It's just that he's gone missing on the hottest day of the year so far."
Town hall officials in Andratx, where John Noakes lives, also made sure to highlight his disappearance.
Taking to their council website, they posted a picture of the celebrated presenter alongside the message: 'We're asking for the public's help in finding a missing man.
“He's wearing marine blue shots and a white and blue shirt. He's 81 years old.”
