But in the months after, Travis struggled with the difficult and painful surgeries he was subjected to, and revealed this week he offered pals a million dollars to take his life.

Further tragedy hit when DJ AM, the only other survivor of the crash and who knew what Travis had been through, died of an overdose a year later.
But despite his horrific ordeal, Travis says he refuses to be afraid of flying for the sake of his children, Landon and Alabama though he hasn’t yet been in one since that fateful night in 2008.
‘I tell my children, when you are ready to fly I am ready to fly.’
‘I don’t want it to be a handicap for them and I dread it.’
In the interview with ABC news, which discussed his upcoming book, Travis also described his narrow escape.
‘The planes on fire, my hands are on fire…I ignite my whole body.
‘I am soaked in jet fuel…We are out of the plane then the plane ignites.’
