Losing Steve Irwin
Bindi’s much-loved father Steve Irwin ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ passed away in 2006 when she was just 8-years-old.
A brave young Bindi delivered a touching and emotional eulogy dedicated to her father which was televised across the world. Her mum, Terri, later told reporters that she wrote the entire speech herself.
TV career
Before her father’s death, Bindi starred alongside him in his show The Crocodile Hunter Diaries. She then was given her own wildlife documentary series on Discovery Kids called Bindi the Jungle Girl.
The show was phenomenally successful, and before his death father Steve actively encouraged his talented daughter to follow in his footsteps.
Hip hop career
Did you know that Bindi released a rap record? Yup. Her album ‘Trouble in the Jungle’ was released in 2007.

Film career
Bindi starred in Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove back in March 2010, followed by the sequel Nim’s Island in 2012.
She stepped into the Nim's Island role made famous by Abigail Breslin for the Australia-released DVD.
Charity work and controversy
Bindi has devoted herself to animal causes, particularly conservation projects. She faced heavy criticism when she joined forces with controversial theme park SeaWorld in 2014.
The park came under fire after the release of documentary Blackfish, which uncovered the dark side of the popular tourist attraction and issues with animal welfare.
Bindi continues to encourage her followers to be 'wildlife warriors'.
Dancing with the stars
In 2015 Bindi joined the cast of Dancing With The Stars, joining forces with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s ex Derek Hough.
She has so far been praised for her hard work and determination on the show.
Bindi wrote about Derek on Instagram: "Incredibly excited and blessed to be working with such an inspirational and wonderful partner.
"I can't wait for the journey to come with @derekhough working together on something so new to me.
"So far I can't stop laughing in the #DWTS studios and I've learned such a lot already thanks to Derek's patience!
"I can't wait to see what's yet to come and I'm ready to put my heart and soul into this adventure."
Romance
Earlier this year, it was reported that Bindi had found love with US wakeboarder boyfriend Chandler Powell. He wished her ‘happy birthday’ with a cute Instagram snap earlier this year.
Chandler wrote: "Happy Birthday to this gorgeous girl! Feel very blessed to have you in my life. Counting down the days until I get to see you again!"
