It’s been another drama-filled week for Kanye West and Bianca Censori, who stepped out for the premiere of their new film. The couple, who have denied rumours that they are divorcing, attended the movie’s debut in LA last week together, although there were whispers that the woman hanging onto Kanye’s arm was not his wife.
Accompanying the rapper was someone – who may or may not be Bianca – shrouded head-to-toe in an all-black outfit, which they kept on throughout the entire screening. It was a stark contrast to Bianca’s bare-all look at the Grammy Awards last month, in which she dropped her black fur coat to display her nude figure in a sheer mesh dress on the red carpet.
The provocative film, whose title translates to Bianca=/m, stars Australian architect and model Bianca, 30. Partially filmed in Japan and directed by artist Vanessa Beecroft, the $25million avant-garde project – which was co-created and produced by Kanye – is said to be an exploration of the female body. One scene reportedly shows Bianca nude as she writhes around on the floor in a blonde wig, while she wears skintight lingerie in another scene.
Kanye shared the film’s poster, which features a naked Bianca lying on her side wearing a blonde wig, on Instagram. 'I’m so proud of my wife for starring in her first feature film shot in Japan directed by Vanessa Beecroft produced by me,' he said.
The film’s debut came amid rumours that Bianca was unhappy with Kanye’s recent behaviour and was having second thoughts about doing the film. Despite rumours that their two-year marriage was on the brink of being over following the Grammys stunt – which Ye reportedly orchestrated, the couple put out a statement saying otherwise.
Kanye’s spokesperson Milo Yiannopoulos laughed off the rumours, saying earlier this month, 'Ye and Bianca are in Los Angeles, about to enjoy Valentine’s Day together. Announcements about their private life will come from them directly, not unsourced rumour in the tabloid press.' He added, 'Is this the fifth or is it the sixth time the press has wrongly reported that Ye and Bianca are separating? I’ve lost track.'
Despite Kanye’s assurance that the pair are stronger than ever, a source reveals that Bianca – who met Kanye, 47, when he employed her to work for his fashion brand Yeezy in 2020 – could be biding her time. They got married in December 2022 – a month after his divorce from Kim Kardashian was finalised.
'It’s not a question of if she leaves, it’s when,' says an insider close to the reportedly estranged couple. 'It’s taken a lot of courage for Bianca to finally snap to her senses and call her attorney, but she’s vowing there’s no going back this time – even though Kanye is desperately trying to change her mind. She’s suffered so much and can’t take any more humiliation. It’s so degrading being this laughing stock and figure of pity.'
For over two years now, Bianca has been living in the public eye as her husband’s plaything – seemingly bending to his every whim, especially when it comes to her image and self-presentation. Concern over the pair’s seemingly coercive power dynamic has been raised ever since they first got together – as she has been paraded across the world in a series of X-rated and barely-there ensembles, reportedly at Kanye’s behest.
It culminated in their controversial Grammys appearance when Kanye instructed his wife to drop her fur coat. He told her, 'Make a scene, I’ll say it’ll make so much sense. Drop it behind you and then turn, I got you.' Bianca obediently agreed, revealing her fully naked body underneath, which was sheathed by a sheer mesh mini-dress (which was almost invisible to the eye).
The rapper duly got the attention he desired, but it was Bianca’s much-debated consent in performing the stunt that came into question. Kanye himself has given both slants – both saying that his wife commandeered her look, but also tweeting (among a series of unhinged and hateful posts), 'I HAVE DOMINION OVER MY WIFE. THIS AINT NO WOKE AS FEMINIST S**T.' But general consensus is that Bianca was simply doing what she’s always done – following orders and duly acting like the perfect plaything.
This is all allegedly down to his need for control and his propensity towards treating the women in his life as inanimate playthings. Speaking last year, one insider told us, 'Obviously, everyone can see that he decides what she wears, or doesn’t wear, but it goes a lot further than that. She barely makes her own decisions anymore… He even suggests what and when she eats and expects her to fit into his sleep schedule, and he’s also told her he doesn’t like her being close to anyone but him. He literally treats her like some sort of blow-up doll.'
Having followed in these footsteps and acquiesced to Kanye’s vision for a long time, Bianca is now no longer playing ball, and, as our insider explains, Kanye is running scared at the possible fallout. Not only could he stand to lose a vast amount of money, given their rumoured lack of a prenup, but he’s also facing the possibility that she’ll speak out about her experiences. For a man whose ego is infamously based on his wealth and his control over his own narrative, these are two outcomes that fill him with dread.
'Right now, Bianca is being inundated with offers to tell her story,' says our source. 'Even if Kanye made her sign an NDA, there could be ways around it. Bianca has seen behind the curtain for over two years now. She has so much information that he doesn’t want the world to know, and absolutely no reason not to share it.
'Right now, she’s getting her ducks in a row, and everyone is pushing hard to make sure she follows through. So much will come out in court and odds are she’ll be offered tens of millions for a tell-all. Meanwhile, he’s trying everything, from threatening that she’ll regret divorcing him to promising her that he’s going to change, to offering her money to stay.'
