Try to remain calm Beyonce fans, if at all possible. The megastar songstress has only gone and dropped a brand-new album in our midst!

"I felt like I don't want anybody to give the message when my album is coming out. I just want it to come out when it's ready - and from me to my fans"

We're deadly serious.

The singer's record label, Columbia records, tweeted on Friday, "#Beyonce The Visual Album. 14 songs 17 videos available now on iTunesMusic", and included a link to the track listing on iTunes.

Cue an absolute Twitter meltdown!

The self-titled album is a family affair for the singer with a song featuring Jay Z calledDrunk In Love and another track and video entitled Blue, which features her daughter Blue Ivy.

While Beyonce didn't tweet anything herself, her sister Solange was quick to tweet her praise to the secret album drop: "So my sister is a f---ing G. Beyonce, the visual album out now."

Queen b may not have tweeted, but she's released a pretty deep video on Facebook explaining why she wants to do a visual album:

"I see music as more than just what I can hear. When I'm connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling, an emotion, a memory from my childhood… and they're all connected to the music.

"And I think it's one of the reasons I wanted to do a visual album. I wanted people to hear the songs with the story that's in my head, 'cos it's what makes it mine."

"That vision in my brain is what I wanted people to experience the first time.

"I feel like, right now, people experience music differently. I remember seeing Thriller on the TV with my family. It was an event… I was so lucky I was born around that time. I miss that immersive experience.

"Now people only listen to a few seconds of the song on their iPod… It's all about the single and the hype.

"I felt like I don't want anybody to give the message when my album is coming out. I just want it to come out when it's ready - and from me to my fans."
