The unofficial account, Becoming Beyonce, was written by celebrity journalist J. Randy Taraborrelli, who alleges Bey and Jay went on a break three years before getting married.
It was during this ‘break’ that rumours about Jay, 45, and 27-year-old Rihanna began circulating.
Taraborrelli insists that, although nothing romantic ever happened between them, for a time Beyonce believed the reports.
Discussing their ‘time apart’ in 2005, Taraborrelli writes: “He felt that she was too concerned with [work] and overwhelmed by it… She had a tendency to become moody and defensive when under great work pressure, and it had begun to drive a wedge between her and Jay.
“The two broke up for a time during that year. She flat-out told him she needed a break.”
Taraborrelli alleges that Rihanna’s camp leaked the rumours of Jay and Rihanna, then 17, to launch her career as a pop superstar..
He continues: “Beyonce wasn’t sure she could trust Jay when it came to his adamant denials. She couldn’t help but be skeptical.”
Beyonce, who gave birth to their daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012, was reportedly so insecure over the claims that the couple had a huge bust up at Jay’s 40/40 club in New York.
“All that was heard… was Rihanna’s name uttered several times, before Beyonce stood up and stormed off,” Taraborrelli added.
