The superstar released a statement to the Associated Press regarding the incident, which happened after the Met Gala last week.

Leaked footage showed Solange, 27, attacking 44-year-old Jay as Beyoncé, 32, looked on.

Up until now, the three of them have remained silent, save for Beyoncé’s cryptic Instagram posts.

In her official statement, the Drunk in Love singer said: “As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident.

“But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred.

“They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They have both apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a family.”

Beyonce took to Instagram this week to dismiss rumours of a feud with her sister

While addressing the issue, Beyoncé’s statement did not answer the burning question of what caused the altercation.

Rumours have been flying around suggesting that it was due to Jay wanting to go to Rihanna’s after party without his wife, or because he hasn’t helped out Solange with her music career like he is said to have promised to.

Jay and Solange both have yet to address the incident.
