Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle has been hurt after reportedly crashing into a barrier following the big jump on the Channel 4 reality show.

The 30-year-old athlete was seen being placed in a neck brace by medical staff before she was airlifted to hospital to await surgery.

Talking to The Sun on Sunday, a source said: "Beth was on the jump on Saturday afternoon and managed to pull it off correctly,

"But she didn’t slow down in time or didn’t stop properly and crashed into a barrier.

"She fractured two vertebrae and will be operated on."

Viewers were also left concerned after watching The Only Way Is Essex star James 'Arg' Argent come off of his sled in the skeleton bob challenge at 83 mph.

The star was seen tumbling down the ice after falling off the sled at a brutal angle.

And former EastEnders' stars Louisa Lytton and Sid Owen have also both injured themselves in falls.

Despite, this series of The Jump being marred by injuries, a Channel 4 spokesman said: "The health and safety of the competitors is always paramount and Beth was immediately taken to hospital for treatment after hurting herself during training."
