The happy (and very beautiful) couple

It’s been a busy old year for Benedict Cumberbatch, what with getting married, having a baby and starring in Hamlet at the Barbican theatre in London (arguably one of his most important roles to date). 2015 also seems to be the year that Cumbermania has escalated to extreme heights – fans have been camping outside the Barbican theatre for days in the desperate hope for a mere glimpse of the actor. The Barbican even had to issue a polite notice stating that Mr Cumberbatch ‘wouldn’t be signing autographs or accepting gifts,’ but did that stop them? Absolutely not.

Benedict married theatre director Sophie Hunter in a private ceremony on the Isle of Wight on Valentine’s Day this year, and Sophie gave birth to their first baby, a little boy, on 1st June. Whilst the private pair have been reluctant to give anything away regarding Cumberbaby numero uno, it appears his name has now been leaked. And it is….(drum roll please)….Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch! Benedict played a character called Christopher in a BBC adaptation of Parade’s End, so rumours are circulating that he named his son after his character. And as for Carlton? It’s a family name which has been passed through the Cumberbatch generation, including Benedict’s grandfather, father and Benedict himself.

We can’t wait to see pictures of little CCC!
