Sherlock star Benedict may be used to 'crime-solving' in his professional life, but he likes his personal life to be a little less mysterious.
Unfortunately an avid fan didn't feel the same.
The new father- who welcomed baby Christopher with wife Sophie earlier this year, was forced to call the police after a woman repeatedly showed up at his North London home.
Not content with unwelcome visits, the avid fan started tying ribbons to his window and car- a reference to Sherlock episode 'A study in scarlet'.
This proved the final straw for the actor, and the Metropolitan police have now issued her with a Police Information Notice over harassment.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Benedict is used to people mobbing him wherever he goes and he's a good sport about it.
"But this individual has taken things to the next level and there was no option but to pursue official action.
"Turning up at professional events is one thing but arriving uninvited at the family home is quite another."
"It might be that she thinks it’s harmless, but it does feel a bit sinister. Leaving red ribbons is obviously a bit of a game, but it does feel quite dark."
We certainly hope that's the end of this mystery.
