Ben Fogle, who announced earlier this year the devastating news that he and his wife had lost their third child, has now opened up about the terrifying moment Marina almost lost her own life.
HOW TO DEAL WITH GRIEF AND SEPARATION
Speaking with The Sun, the television presenter said: "The thought of life without her was unbearable.
"I think we all assume that everything is going to be straightforward and will go ahead as normal, but it was a huge shock in every sense."
He added: "And actually the bigger thing, which I haven't really spoken about, is I very nearly lost my wife. She very, very nearly died.
"For her to have come within 20 minutes of dying was a huge bolt for me and was so terrifying I can't even explain it."
INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES ON DEALING WITH GRIEF
However, Ben has said that the heartbreaking experience has brought his family closer together, and now he treasures every single moment with his wife and two children, 5-year-old Ludo and 3-year-old Iona.
He said: "You have to never forget to say: 'I love you,' every single day.
"Never forget to smile and be happy and seize opportunities. Too many people in life take one another for granted."
