Starting where Christian Bale left off, Ben Affleck will star as the superhero opposite Henry Cavill, who will play superman. This is the first time the two superhero's will have starred in the same film - and is already proving a contentious topic amongst comic book lovers.
41-year-old Affleck, who is married to fellow actress Jennifer Garner, will no doubt be excited to join the long line of actors who've played the role which include pal George Clooney and Michael Keaton.
President of Warner Brothers Greg Silverman said they needed 'an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular super heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill and then some.'
Adding: 'Affleck has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wise than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne.'
