Avril Lavigne took to Instagram this week to announce that she and her husband, Nickelback’s lead singer Chad Kroeger, are separating after two years of marriage.
Sharing a loved-up photo of the couple on their wedding day, Avril wrote emotionally: “It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today.
“Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments.”
The 30-year-old continued: “We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other.
“To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.”
The news has left fans shocked, particularly as the Sk8r Boi songstress has been battling Lyme Disease this year.
She also, just a few months ago, credited Chad with helping her through her health crisis.
At the time, she said: “I’m about halfway through my treatment. I’m doing a lot better.
“Seeing a lot of progress... I'm just really grateful to know that, like, I will make [a] 100 percent recovery.”
Some sites have reported that the couple have been on the rocks for a while - and that Chad was seen ‘partying with another woman’ shortly before the split was announced.
