At some points, no matter how much you try, and no matter how good a person you are, you just can't quite feel any sympathy. The latest on how celebrities are finding it harder than usual to sell their multi-million pound mansions is one of those instances.

Poor little Robbie Williams has had to pushthe price of his house down £2million to £5.5million, and Cheryl's has fallen from £7.5million to £6.99million. Are you crying yet? We're openly weeping right now.

It's all down to Chancellor George Osborne, who’s increased stamp duty for high-end houses, which could add more than a million to the price in some cases. For houses over £1.5 million the stamp duty rate is 12 per cent - which mean that if you buy a house for £11 million, you’ll pay £1.2 million in stamp duty, or £1.5 million if it’s your second home.

Noel Gallagher's five bedroom mansion in West London is proving hard to shift in the current market, and he's reported saying: "If there are any wealthy Russians reading this story, give me a call, please".

An independent buying agent, Henry Pryor, told the MailOnline: ‘The top end of the market has been severely undermined by the Government’s actions over the past 18 months. It means that properties over £1 million suffer from “transaction friction” — they are harder to sell than they were."

So whenever you're having a bad day, stop for a moment and think of the likes of Cheryl and co. It's tough being stuck in your huge mansion sometimes.
