Ant & Dec have today received an OBE each - just two days after winning Best Presenter at the National Television Awards for the 16th time.

The official Ant & Dec Twitter account tweeted a photo of the pair looking very happy and cheeky. Just like normal then!

Our favourite Geordie duo were awarded the prestigious honour at Buckingham Palace today by the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, for services to broadcasting and entertainment.

After the ceremony, Ant said: "The whole day has been wonderful. Charles was great when we stepped up and we had a good chat. We're ambassadors for The Prince's Trust as well so he thanked us for our ongoing contribution.

"He had a big smile on his face so he must have been pleased to see us!"

Dec chimed in: "It wasn't as big as the smiles we had on our faces though!

"It's been quite a surreal week with the National Television Awards, we're both floating on air."

Ant said: "We're back to work on Britain's Got Talent tomorrow so we've got no time to sort of sit and relax!"

Dec had a cheeky grin on his face when he quipped: "We are going to take these to show Simon Cowell - I don't think he's got one... Just to rub his nose in it a little bit!

"We're really lucky at the moment to have three of the biggest shows on British telly with Britain's Got Talent, Saturday Night Takeaway and I'm A Celebrity, and those three keep us going, keep us getting out of bed in the morning, really!

"You know, I get to go to work every day with my best mate - we're living the dream."

Although their long and lucrative career has worked so well for the two as a pair, they had to go up alone to receive the awards.

Alan Shearer wasn't happy about it!

The pair first met 26 years ago on the set of Byker Grove, the Newcastle-based high school TV show that they both appeared in as PJ & Duncan. They were so popular that they catapulted into fame, even becoming popstars with the 1994 hit Let's Get Ready To Rhumble.

You know the one!

After starting in TV presenting in 1994 with children's show Gimme 5, they then went on to host SMTV and CD with Cat Deeley, making them household names.

Presenting Pop Idol on Saturday night prime time cemented their fame, and in 2002 created Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, a variety entertainment show which is back on our screens next month.

They've also fronted I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! since its first ever series in 2002. Last year saw the 14th series of the show, and was won by fellow Geordie Scarlett Moffatt, who will be starring in this year's Saturday Night Takeaway. They've also hosted Britain's Got Talent since its inception in 2007.

You might think that two people who work with each other as much as these two might not be that close, but these two are the best of friends, even being best man for each other at their respective weddings.

Congratulations to them both!
