To say Kesha has been going through a hard time recently would be a complete understatement, so it’s understandable that she simply doesn’t have time for body shamers right now.
The Tik Tok singer – who has openly talked about her struggle with anorexia before – posted a bikini snap online along with the following message:
“Not a slave to perfection right now. F--k it. body shamers please f--k off ain't nobody got time for it.”
Not long after making her mark on the music scene, the 29-year-old checked into rehab in an attempt to overcome her eating disorder.
In 2014 the blonde beauty told Vogue magazine:
“I've had a lot of ups and downs. It's been quite a journey. I went to a dark place.
“There was a lot of not eating - and I started to think being hungry to the point of feeling almost faint was a positive thing.”
But luckily Kesha managed to seek the help she needed, after turning to her mother and checking herself into rehabilitation. She explained:
“I realized being healthy is the most important thing I can do for myself. Now, I'm trying to embrace the skin I'm in. It's difficult sometimes… Every day I have to look in the mirror and make the choice to be kind to myself.”
The post comes just weeks after Kesha lost her court battle against record label Sony and producer Dr Luke after allegations of sexual abuse, and was denied a break from her contract with the company.
Kesha had a six album deal with Luke Gottwald, but wanted the contract nullified after claiming he raped her at age 18. The judge however turned down the request, stating it would undermine the laws regarding contracts.
Floods ofcelebrity support came in after the ruling.
Kesha’s backlash against body shamers also comes just after actor Wentworth Miller also sent a powerful message to critics online, after saying how eating was a way of coping with depression, and that people should look beyond body weight.
