She revealed her pregnancy during an appearance on Loose Women in August, after previously opening up about her fertility fears. And now Amy Hart tells Closer she has been bonding with Molly-Mae Hague – who she starred with on Love Island in 2019 – over their pregnancies.
Molly-Mae, 23, revealed she's expecting a baby girl with boyfriend Tommy Fury – who she met on the show – earlier this month.
And now Amy – who had her 20-week scan last week – says that she is in touch with her former co-star, and that Molly actually told her before she announced it publicly to the world.
"Molly told me she was pregnant not long after my own announcement, so it's nice to have someone to chat to," the 30-year-old tells Closer.
"We've been swapping pregnancy tips, like, 'I saw you put that pram on your story. What do you think of it? Yes, it's great, you should get it!' A lot of the Love Islanders have passed on their congratulations, too."
Three years ago, Amy explained that she had decided to freeze her eggs after a test indicated that her fertility levels were low. The process amounted to £14,000, with the reality star admitting it was "insurance" in case she didn't find a partner. But in August last year, she went public with boyfriend Sam Rason, 34, after her slid into her DMs on social media, and fell pregnant unexpectedly.
Amy explains, “This pregnancy wasn’t planned. I use an app to track my cycle – you have your fertile days and your non-fertile days – and I used to avoid Sam on my fertile days, but still managed to get pregnant.
“My period was late. I did a test in the house and Sam was there. We did loads of tests! It came back positive straight away, and I thought, ‘How many are in there?’, and Sam said, ‘The test must be faulty.’ But it wasn’t.”
She adds that she hasn’t been experiencing any cravings, unlike many pregnant women, and has managed to avoid piling on the pounds.
“I’m just greedy in general,” Amy jokes, “I pass things off as cravings. I say I’m really craving a Taco Bell takeaway or a Domino’s, but it’s just because I’m greedy. I’ve probably lost a bit [of weight] because I’m not drinking any wine. My nutritionist told me to give up caffeine. I don’t drink tea or coffee, the only caffeine I drank was full-fat Coke, so I’ve given that up, too. Not drinking Coke or wine has balanced out the calories.”
Amy rose to fame on Love Island in 2019, entering the villa having never had a serious relationship or a boyfriend. She had an ill-fated romance with Curtis Pritchard, which came to an end when his head was turned in Casa Amor and ultimately resulted in her quitting the ITV2 show.
Amy’s boyfriend Sam – who is a tech entrepreneur and model – is her first boyfriend and she hopes the pair will get married soon.
She says, “We’ve been living together for six months, so it’s nice. Hopefully [we will be married soon], yes, but after the baby is born – not before. It has been mentioned, but I don’t want to get engaged when I’m pregnant because I want to be able to drink, so it will probably be next year. He’s The One!”
Amy is due in March next year, and while she is adamant that she and Sam will not be finding out the sex of their baby, she has given some thought to the birth.
“I don’t know if I’ll have a water birth yet,” she admits. “I wanted a home birth, but we’re not sure now, and we think a hospital birth might be better. I'll just go with the flow. I'm really excited.
"I don't know about godparents. I have so many people in my life – at one stage I suggested eight godmothers, but Sam said no!"
And Amy reveals she is very strict when it comes to name-picking. "We've got a couple for each [sex] but Sam shoots down a lot of my suggestions. I have a lot of rules. For instance, I don't want anything that's in the top 20 [names] and ideally nothing in the top 50 – nothing boring, or weird and nothing disgustingly old fashioned!"
