Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom has spoken out about why she hasn’t travelled to Australia to support the boxer while he takes part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

The couple’s relationship troubles have been aired in public this year with Amir being accused of cheating on Faryal despite her being pregnant.

But, after spending some time apart, the pair are on better terms and Faryal’s decision not to jet Down Under isn’t due to any romance woes.

Speaking to This Morning hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, she explained it was simply down to the fact she’s expecting, saying: “I’m not heavily pregnant quite yet. I’m quite petite, so I might show soon.

“(But) because I’m pregnant and I do feel a bit sick sometimes, it’s a really long flight. So hopefully when Amir is back we can go on a shorter flight and go on holiday. After the jungle, I think he’s going to need a holiday.”

Amir and Faryal split earlier this year when tweets from the sportsman’s account claimed she had cheated on him with fellow boxer Anthony Joshua.

Faryal claimed his Twitter had been hacked but Amir confirmed he and his wife had split in a Snapchat video.

After a war of words on social media, it was reported Faryal made a late night call in a bid to save their relationship for the sake of their daughter Lamaisah.

Faryal declared her love for Amir during her television appearance and is proud to be supporting him on his ITV show even if he is a bit of a wimp when it comes to his jungle challenges.

Referring to his fear of creepy crawlies, she said: “Everyone loves his screams. I couldn’t imagine him around spiders and snakes. I wasn’t surprised at all (about how scared he was).
